Nuremburg & Munich, Germany

Nuremburg market

A few of the many beer halls at Oktoberfest

Ummm, German sausages!!!

Wow - so glad we did this once in our life, but not so sure I'd be going back. Complete madness is the only way to describe Oktoberfest! We were so lucky really as we landed ourselves in the reserved area for German corporates and met some really great people up there who were buying us steins and pretzels all day. Oktoberfest isn't just about drunk NZ'ers and Ozzies, it's really a family thing for the entire German culture! It's their festive season where every day is a day for drinking beer and eating sausages and getting merry! Awesome :-)

When we first landed in Munich we caught a 3hr train north to Nuremberg for a few nights. We were surprised at how beautiful this town was. Hard to tell it had been so devastated during the war. Definitely recommend this place for xmas markets for any Europeans looking for somewhere!

Then we were back down to Munich for a few days for Oktoberfest! Wicked!!!

p.s more news to follow in a separate post :-) This will include pictures of course!!!!

What a ripper of a weekend! We flew into Shannon airport and drove our way to Doolin for the weekend. Can't believe how lucky we were with the weather! Absolutely sensational. Got a boat out to the Aran islands for one day, and then went on a tour past the Cliffs of Moher just on dusk - beautiful! Drank plenty of Guinness with the Irish, went to some great old pubs and explored some of their lovely countryside. The coastal drive was awesome!
