Walking through Ambleside in The Lake District
Steam train near Windermere. Toot toot!
We caught a train to York from London and then hired a car and drove around the north of Yorkshire and The Lake District for five nights. Surprisingly, we had never been up that way in our five years over here was quite nice to hear the different accents and see other parts of England. London really is quite different to the rest of the country...
York was cool little town. Would have liked to have stayed a bit longer here. Lots to see and do and of course the National Railway museum was there.
We were really impressed with how lovely Whitby was. Sea-side towns are not normally that glamorous in this country, but this one was quaint and not overtaken by tacky shops on the sea front. We even had the best fish 'n chips we had ever had in this country up there. Managed to source a bit of Whitby Jet while there as well. Lots of local jewellers sell it and seems to be quite an attraction to the town.
The Lake District was nice, but really touristy! Not that keen to spend our holiday with millions of other tourists but we managed to find our way into the wilderness and went on a few walking missions around the lakes. Very beautiful. Lots of visits to the local pubs and restaurants to put some energy back in after all that walking.
The lovely south of France
Our gorgeous B&B in Rousillon
Many days sitting by the pool like this - only thing to keep us cool in 38 degrees!
One of many lavender fields
The small village of Joucas
View from Sault
Had many nights like this - picnic at our B&B with gorgeous French food
One of the wineries we visited - sooooo cheap!
Having dinner in Rousillon
Rousillon
Nat getting adventurous with the poterie - lovely lady in Murs showed me what to do
Lunch in Goult
Avignon town
We got the Eurostar direct from Kings Cross London to Avignon in the south of France for a week holiday. Pure luxury!!! Such an easy way to get to our destination - no airports, no lengthy security, just sitting on a lovely train and arriving in heaven 5 hours later.
Once in Avignon we hired a car and drove to our little village of Rousillon where our B&B was. Driving through vineyards, olive trees and lavender fields. Weather was in the high thirties every day and we spent most days eating, drinking, sleeping by the pool and swimming. Very relaxing.
We drove between the small villages for an adventure each day, but didn't really go too far. We decided this was a relaxing holiday and we didn't want to try and do everything like we normally would. Every village was gorgeous... quiet and quaint.

Baby Elston
Yes, it's true. We're having a baby! Baby Elston is due to arrive on 21st December but it'll be our luck that he/she comes on Christmas day. Either way, it's pretty damn exciting and we're both thrilled.
Our traveling is slowly quietening down... but hopefully we'll get a few more trips in before the end of the year. The next year is the beginning of a new chapter... here we go!
