A dash of Cologne

The amazing Cathedral

Lindt chocolate factory

Mmmmmm

Who would have thought that Simon could speak German? Well, it just kept coming out once we landed in Cologne and I couldn't believe it. What he learned all those *years* ago, really paid off!

We were pretty stoked with Cologne really. The main attraction was the Lindt chocolate factory and the city's Cathedral, but we were lovin the other attractions that came for free. The famous beer halls in Germany are soooo cool! Just what you imagine Germany to be like. "Mature" German men pouring endless amounts of beer and serving boy-style food. Everyone in Cologne was really helpful and friendly and went out of their way to help us.

The Cathedral was gorgeous! Probably the most amazing Cathedral I have ever seen in my life. We walked 509 steps to the very top and had a pretty cool view over the city.

Definitely recommend Cologne to any travellers out there for a lovely relaxing city break!

Staunton Village where we had lunch on Sunday

James, Tracey, Simon and I hired a car and drove out on the A40 on Friday night all the way to the Cotswolds - an area of gorgeous English villages. We hired a beautiful two-bed cottage in Stow on the Wold and managed to get around and see a lot. Tried out the local pub on Friday night, and after a few bottles of red wine we walked all of 10 steps to our cottage. Saturday we went rambling through a few villages, coming home on Saturday night where we cooked up a huge roast and sat in front of the log fire. Proper English style eh!

Sunday started at the local Falconry where we watched a show with Vultures, Owls, Falcons and Eagles... sooo cool! Finishing off the weekend at another beautiful village for a pub lunch :-)
