Dubrovnik, Croatia

Dubrovnik old town
Dubrovnik's main street so early that no-one was there!
Walking the city wall of Dubrovnik...

Everyone has said how lovely Dubrovnik is, and it's all true! A very picturesque city with lots of history. During our first night here we stayed in the "new town" and got picked up at the airport by a local civilian who had lived in Dubrovnik all of his life. Within no time he was talking about the war and how he fought from the fortress above...

Our last few nights in Dubrovnik we were right in the middle of the "old town". Loads of bars and restaurants and of course, loads of tourists! The highlight was probably walking around the city wall. 2km and took about an hour in the 30 degree heat. I nearly keeled over it was so hot, but we got there!

Of course, more lovely seafood and swimming in the sea in Dubrovnik... enjoy our photos, we took nearly 800 of Croatia in total so it was so hard to choose the best ones :-)

An incredible destination made even more interesting after your telephone conversation - especially about the new roofs in the old town which actually look as if they have been there for hundreds of years.

Amazing wall and beauty of old place is what I remember . Presumably the war damage has been sorted? Are they NZ shrimps?
